KHALIFAH

(Ar.: khalifah = wakil, pengganti atau duta).

Manusia (wakil, pengganti atau duta Tuhan di muka bumi); pengganti Nabi Muhammad SAW dalam fungsinya sebagai kepala negara. Al-Qur'an menyebut kata khalifah dalam dua ayat, yakni surah al-Baqarah ayat 30 dan surah Sad ayat 26.
